origin of the NORAD santa tracker

The plot bears a striking resemblance to a real event in history as reported by Bruce Watson on DailyFinance’s Website on 24 December 2009: ‘…In December 1955, Sears Roebuck ran a newspaper ad with what they claimed was Santa’s direct number. Unfortunately, the phone number they offered was one digit off; instead of Sears, it linked to a top secret line at CONAD, the Continental Air Defense Command. When Colonel Harry Shoup, the command’s director of operations, answered the phone, he expected to hear about a missile strike against the US. Instead, he got a little kid who wanted to talk to Santa. I <3 colin firth (part the twelve thousandth)

1 - “A Single Man” was very good. Especially considering what it was.

2 - Colin Firth was phenomenal. I’m so not being biased about this.

3 - I loved that Jon Hamm made a vocal cameo in the movie. I recognized his voice almost immediately and it momentarily distracted me from the gloriousness of Colin Firth.

4 - COLIN FIRTH WAS AT THE SCREENING. I knew this in advance, of course - it was pretty much the main reason why I attended! But to suddenly see him standing there, and then striding down the aisle in that inimitable way he has, wearing a smart suit with his perfect white shirt with the top few buttons undone. AHHHHHHH

5 - And he has such lovely hands and he’s so smart and funny and handsome and lovely.

6 - The Colin Firth Fan Club is even bigger than I thought. The show was sold out, and the estrogen level in the room was definitely palpable. Especially when they showed that montage of his films and especially the scene from Pride & Prejudice.

7 - So much perfectness AHHHHHHH
